-What is your character's worst fear? Being alone, in Pokemon one's team can describe your personality- and Emmet's team all start off as creatures that do best in groups or depending on others. He doesn't see himself as an individual at times and more along the lines of a 'two-car train'. This is good because it shows he has a willingness to work in a team. This is awful because it makes him co-dependent at times. I do hope to explore his time in Lab of Nature as dealing with himself by being both physically alone, and also emotionally alone. Emmet will have to learn how to deal with his co-dependency in the 'throw the dog in the pool and see if it swims' way.
-What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?
His desire to have fun, if one were to do a color code personality analysis on him, he would be very strongly yellow (motivated by fun), everything he does somehow circles back to if he is having fun. If he isn't having fun, he wants off this ride, thanks. Taking things seriously is fun because he knows someone is putting their all into it so you should match energy, being around Ingo is fun because his brother is fun! Now, this often makes him seem as a little more immature than his brother, despite both being equally mature. It is simply a matter of presentation and goal alignments. If push comes to shove, he shows easily he is someone who can be relied on.
-If they had to sacrifice their own life to save someone else, would they do it? Why, or why not? Where do they draw the line? Yes, Emmet understands that as a public servant he has to put himself last when it comes to people. Even more so if it is someone he cares about, no questions if you're Ingo. Emmet has a Utilitarian view of morality (the unhappiness of one is less important than the happiness of others), so with both those thoughts, Emmet is very much willing to put his life to the side if need be. He would only draw a line if nothing positive would come from it. Now, this also can make him seem more cold than his brother, because while this applies to his life- he could also expand it to other aspects of his life if similar choices were to be forced to me made, such as the 'If a Doctor, a mother and the Leader of the Free World were on an airplane and there were only two parachutes for the three of them- who would you pick to die?' He would (regretfully) pick the mother because the other two are more important for the overall good.
-Who is the most important person in your character's life? How has that person impacted them? Ingo. His identical twin. Emmet looks up to Ingo, he has fun when Ingo is around, he talks to Ingo often. Ingo is the center to Emmet's universe, and it shows whenever you talk to him. Emmet will always circle back to talking about his brother, how he thinks his brother is the best. And the feeling tends to be entirely mutual. Co-dependency issues ahoy! But with this, Emmet does a lot of comparison between himself and Ingo, always looking on ways to make his combination with his brother the best. This is not healthy in the long run, but Emmet doesn't care.

1.) Cho by Tsukiko Amano (song) Lyrics From Fatal Frame II, it is a song of one person speaking to another about their own co-dependence but also being strong on their own. I feel this would be a great relation to his co-dependence on his twin brother Ingo and learning how to stand on his own while in Lab of Nature without his brother by his side.
2.)Why or Why Not by Oshima Hiroyuki feat. Katakiri Rekka (song) Lyrics I feel like this would be the song of Emmet willing to do anything, being willing to pull the trigger in comparison to other people he knows and having to look for forgiveness within himself for it, because even despite this- he is still human and will feel guilt even if whatever he does is the most logical and 'right' thing to do at the moment. That he would stil be himself, but with this added bit of 'sin' in him.
3.) Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles (song) Lyrics I keep on mentioning this, but I will keep on beating it. Emmet is co-dependent on his twin brother, but there would be a day when he no longer has his brother around. He is the lonely person, and he has no idea how to form connections with other people without his brother there, and that without that connections he wouldn't make and fail to maintain, he would be the person dying alone with no one around.
4.) Smog Moon by Matthew Sweet Lyrics This is a song of regrets and and the true horror of coming to realize that you are not as great as you think you are, a humbling song. For someone like Emmet who prides himself on being strong and being himself, how this is a song about being nothing more than a role you play and how once you deviate from this role, you get left behind. Emmet has so much of his identiy tied up in being a twin, being a subway master, being a battle facility head - that when he is stripped of all of that- who is he?
5.) Worry About You by Ivy Lyrics This song prefectly shows how Emmet is so focused on people he cares about (Ingo) being near him, that he does focus muchly on him while he is away, no matter how big or small.

The world of Pokémon is similar to our own, a situation of 15 minutes in the future. In this world, there are mysterious creatures known as Pokémon. The creatures take the place of animals in our world, and they can be as common as a bug or as legendary as a God. In Emmet's era, Humans and Pokémon live closely together, with many humans becoming Pokémon Trainers - People who partner up with a singular or a team of Pokémon to battle other Pokémon. While many people try, only a few become able to become Pokémon Trainers for a living. Emmet is one of these individuals, he and his older twin brother, Ingo, are Battle Facility Heads. Being a Battle Facility Head has not only proved that Emmet is a good enough trainer to do it for a living, he is one of the best trainers in his region.

He has been aged up approx 8ish years after Ingo was sent to Hisui, where he has spent this time feeling depressed, angry, confused and isolated.

Iteration

One day, Ingo left work and disappeared, and everyone went wild. Rumors spread, police reports were filed, investigations done, and the case went ice-cold. Emmet was the center of many of these rumors, who would Ingo trust enough to leave his Pokémon behind to go out with, after all? Years have passed, and almost everyone has moved on with their lives somehow, except for, of course, Emmet.

While Emmet tries to act the same, he is haunted. He is haunted by the question of 'What happened to Ingo?' every day, wondering if Ingo is alive and safe. Alive and in danger? Dead? He is also haunted by being declared guilty in the court of public opinion of being involved with the disappearance, and close people not knowing how to deal with his grief only adds into dark thoughts Emmet has (for example, giving Emmet space to work on his grief because he is the less social of the twins, but he needed the exact opposite, causing him to feel like his friends and family agreed with the rumors about his involvement with Ingo's disappearance at worst, and at best, now that Ingo was gone-they didn't have to interact with Emmet.) There is no 'bad guy' in this situation.

Because of this, Emmet is in a very delicate spot mentally, on his good days he only hates himself, everyone and life, but can 'fake it' figuring he has to get up, take care of the Pokémon, go to work, come home, and follow any lead he could find on what happened to Ingo. He pushes those negative thoughts away with more optimistic ones (Ingo will come back, everyone is also sad and busy, etc...) on bad days he is lying in bed, stuck in his head, and each day inching from suicidal ideation to something much worse (after all, the most important person in his life just disappeared, people thinks he did it, and he feels abandoned so what's the point anymore). The days of him 'faking it' fool everyone enough to think he doesn't need help, and that he is coming to terms with Ingo's disappearance, which is good because soon Ingo is about to be declared legally dead (he is not coming to terms, good thing the fox is taking him before this!).

reasoning The role is based less on how he is and how he has come to view himself because of outsider's opinions. He is kind, sweet, and good, but because of Ingo's disappearance and many people thinking he was involved or giving him space (when he did not need that at all making him think he was being abandoned by friends and family), he has started to think he is the reason why Ingo left, that he was inferior to Ingo and everyone only put up with him because of Ingo, that if Ingo was the good twin- the obviously he was the bad one if people can so easily think he was involved in making his brother leave.

Also, even though he is actively working against it, his heart is full of anger, sadness, and hate. He is trying to feed the wolf that wants good, but also the one who wants to hate, always seems to find a rabbit to eat so to speak. He often tries to mask his true feelings because of trying to deal with this situation.

What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?

Ingo is easily the most important relationship in Emmet's life. Ingo is Emmet's older twin, and Ingo was Emmet's best friend, closest rival, coworker, and the person he looked up to despite the fact at the end of the day - they were equals. While many twins go down their own paths, Emmet was more than happy to be a 'two-car train' with Ingo. In life, there are many experiences you can replicate with people shifting into new and old roles in your life, but being a twin (an identical one even!) is not something you can replicate if something were to happen to part of the set. Ingo was woven into every part of Emmet's life from the moment he was born, and even before that. And once Ingo was sent to Hisui, it left a void that could not be easily filled if at all.

What is a headcanon (or two) you feel strongly about and that you prefer playing your character with? How is this supported in canon and why do you think it benefits the character's story?

One headcanon I subscribe to is that Emmet is Autistic. Some canon evidence I use for this is how Emmet uses short sentences, scripts (What I do, what I say, always the same), adores trains to the point he will use the lingo in everyday conversation, is less aware of personal space bubbles, when he gets excited he has a verbal stim of 'verrrry', lacks a social filter (in Pokémon Special, he goes up right to White and Bianca and tells them he is eavesdropping and to carry on), along with walk in said manga that is very reminiscent to a full-body stim.

I think it benefits his story because it shows that he is unabashedly him. Even though he knows he shouldn't eavesdrop, he knows he shouldn't get too close (in Pokemon Special, Ingo will pull him away by the collar), he is true to himself. He doesn't feel the need to fit in, he doesn't care what other people think.

What does your character feel like they struggle with still? Where could they improve? This could be physically, mentally, emotionally, or otherwise.

Emmet knows he struggles a lot mentally and emotionally with dealing with the disappearance of Ingo and the (supposed) abandonment of his friends and family. Ingo's disappearance and figuring it out became a hyper fixation, and thus his personal circle of hell. He weakly tries to break out of the hyper fixation knowing it isn't healthy at all to think about the disappearance for more hours of the day than not, because not only is it making it where he can't live his own life (because the moment he relaxes his brain instantly starts working on a theory) but it is hurting him emotionally because it isn't allowing his life to grow around the grief of losing Ingo. He knows this isn't good or healthy, but something keeps telling him 'Why do X when your twin is missing? Are you giving up this fight?' This also causes his 'I like winning' mentality to kick in, giving up the search means defeat, and he can't lose when something so important is on the line.

Which Taylor Swift era is your character going through right now and why?

I feel like Emmet is currently in his 'Folklore' era. He misses his brother, is sad, and is trying to move on. He is torn between nostalgia and being pushed forward. That even after all this time his heart is still broken over how his brother just one day disappeared. The music and lyrics fit the melancholia of his life now. From 'mirrorball' and how he is performing he is doing alright when he isn't, 'cardigan' reflects how with Ingo he felt happy and good and hopes that Ingo would return one day, 'this is me trying' shows that he is trying, nothing is holding him back from moving on from his brother's disappearance, but here he is stuck in a cage with no way to currently leave.

I'm Emmet. I am a Subway Boss.

Personality:

When first meeting him, Emmet seems a bit of an odd individual with a stilted manner of talking and, often introduces himself with a stiff ‘I am Emmet’ along with things he likes (such as Double Pokemon Battles) and using train references when talking (as seen in Pokemon Masters Ex). He is actually a determined pokemon trainer and subway boss who cares deeply for his loved ones. Emmet has a strong competitive streak in which he declares that he ‘Likes winning more than anything else.’ But he won’t chalk it up to him being just a better trainer, he will admit that he could have simply gotten lucky. But if he loses, he will show that he is a humble individual by saying it was fun and that the Player character is a ‘verrry’ strong trainer. In Pokemon Masters, he will talk about how he will aim for victory and is excited to hear that the Player character will too.

He is easily excited about meeting new Pokemon and challenging their trainers because this means he can learn about new combinations of Pokemon and how to use them in battle to improve his own skills. But this doesn’t mean he will lose his head in the excitement of the situation, because to him, unless he is taking it seriously, it isn’t fun. He says that he takes Pokemon battling seriously for this exact reason. I feel like this would carry over into other situations that he gets excited about, he will take it with a single-minded serious perspective and aim for the best possible results.

In Pokemon Masters Ex, Emmet showed that he is dedicated by helping make his brother’s goal in Pasio come true of having a ‘Battle Subway’ system there. He showed this by being the first one between him and his brother to offer up to help work clear out paths in a cave to help show that they were serious in their endeavor to bring a battle subway-like system to Pasio. Along with being a very strong Pokemon trainer, one has to have a good, strong work ethic along with the dedication to the craft to do in 2 on 2 Pokemon Battles.

He shows his blunt nature with his interactions with others. He readily tells people what they are doing wrong in his estimation with little thought of whether it comes off as rude. Or will show a simple lack of tact. This is shown with how he speaks in the Japanese versions of Black and White. While Ingo speaks in a polite manner, Emmet does not. In the English version, it was translated as Emmet speaking in shorter, stilted sentences.

Emmet shows that he has a strong degree of impatience by his need to rush to help the player character to be the best in Pokemon Masters Ex. I feel when mixed with his excitable ways and how much he talks about his desire to have fun, can lead to bouts of being impulsive. He needs someone to reign him in at times or else he might go off the rails by giving into doing what he wants.

Emmet will be nosy (without subtly) by openly eavesdropping on conversations that he might find interesting. Not caring if it really is none of his business or not or if there is no way for him to be able to help out with the situation or not. As he and Ingo both listened in on a conversation a group of characters were having in Pokemon Masters and decided to join in for their own reasons.

During the Tea Party Event in Pokemon Masters Ex, it was revealed by Ingo that Emmet is the one between the brothers to entertain guests on the Battle Subway and quite enjoyed being a Host during the event. In fact, during the event, Emmet's first thoughts were of how he could entertain the guests at the Tea Party, and upon seeing Piers singing thought that he could do it with a song. Piers countered this by saying that simply being open and honest with the guests at the party will be good for them and Emmet said that he would start wearing his heart on his sleeve.
